Karate Guidelines Downtown Oakland YMCA

Payment Deadlines
Payments must be received by the deadlines published in the Karate calendar, to avoid late fees or
cancellation of enrollment. Only payments received (not postmarked) by the due date are considered to be on
time. If your payment is late, a hold may be added to your membership record which will prohibit you from
registering for YMCA programs and/or classes. A $10 late fee will be assessed, if payment is received
AFTER the published deadlines, for continuing students in Karate. Continuing students who register
AFTER the payment deadline are considered late and will be assessed late fees.

BELT TEST
Belt tests are usually held on the last Fri and Sat of the month: January, April, July, and October. You
and/or your child must be current with your registration and payments in order to take the belt test.
Karate Credit/Refund Policy
1. If you cancel your reserved space 72 hours or more before the Karate program begins**, you may
request one of the following, at the time of cancellation:
a. A transfer to another YMCA program during the same session; provided the space is available.
b. A credit for future use of YMCA programs*** (must be used within 6 months of date issued).
c. A refund: immediate refund to your credit card or allow twenty (20) working days for a check
to be mailed to you. ***
2. If you cancel your reserved space 48 hours or more, but less than 72 hours, before the program begins,
** you may submit a written request for a credit or transfer, as described above, except that there are
NO REFUNDS.
3. If you cancel your reserved space 24 hours or more, but less than 48 hours, before the program
begins, only credits will be issued, NO TRANSFERS and NO REFUNDS.
4. If the YMCA cancels a program, you may choose one of the following:
a. A full credit, to be used by any member of your immediate family at the Downtown Oakland
YMCA.
b. A full refund, to be mailed to you within twenty (20) working days.
c. A full refund to your credit card upon request.
The YMCA reserves the right to cancel any Program due to low enrollment.
You must pay at the time of registration for all Programs. Reservations are not recognized until full payment
has been received and processed. Please allow up to 5-10 days for application processing.

**Applies to Karate Programs.
***A $5.00 processing fee for credits and a $10.00 processing fee for refunds will apply to each
cancellation.
Guideline supersedes all previous guidelines and may be changed at any time with or without notice at the
sole discretion of the YMCA.
